For children, the early years are a precious season of discovery and formation. It is often during childhood that the first seeds of faith are planted: learning who God is, hearing the stories of Scripture, and beginning to understand that they are deeply loved by their Creator.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). Light in Scripture represents truth, life, and guidance. Just as sunlight helps a plant grow strong, the light of God’s Word helps young hearts grow in faith. In our children’s ministry, we seek to create an environment where faith is nurtured with joy, curiosity, and a deep sense of belonging.

As children grow into their teenage years, the questions of life often become deeper. Identity, belonging, purpose, and truth become more personal and more pressing. In a world full of competing voices and shifting values, young people need something steady and secure to hold onto.

This is why our youth ministry is called Anchor Fellowship. Hebrews 6:19 describes our hope in Christ as “a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul.” During the middle school and high school years, it is a critical season of faith formation. Our desire is to help students become firmly rooted in the truth of the gospel.

When a young person is anchored in Christ, they are not easily carried away by the currents of culture. Instead, they learn to trust God's Word, develop a personal faith, and begin to take ownership of their walk with the Lord. Our goal is not simply to entertain youth, but to help them build a faith that will endure into adulthood.

While the church plays an important role in nurturing faith, Scripture reminds us that parents are the primary disciplers of their children. Deuteronomy 6:6–7 calls families to pass on God’s Word diligently in everyday life whether sitting at home, walking along the road, lying down, and rising up. Faith is not meant to be confined to Sunday mornings. Children and youth learn what following Jesus looks like by watching the lives of the adults around them. They notice how we pray, how we respond to challenges, how we treat others, and whether Christ truly shapes our daily lives.

This vision is not only guiding our ministry, but also inviting every parent and Christian adult to reflect: Are we shining the light of Christ for the next generation to see? When families worship together, talk about Scripture, and walk through life with Christ at the center, children begin to see that faith is not just something we attend—it is something we live.

As Christians we don’t see raising the next generation in faith is  the task of parents alone. The church is called to be a spiritual family across generations. Older believers, mentors, teachers, and church leaders all share the privilege of helping guide young hearts toward Christ. In this way, the whole faith community becomes like a lighthouse. We stand together to shine the light of truth and love in a world that often feels uncertain and dark.

Our prayer is that Golden Gate Christian Church would be a place where the light of Christ shines clearly across generations where children grow in the light of God’s truth, youth are anchored firmly in Christ, families walk faithfully together, and the entire church joins in the sacred calling of nurturing the next generation and be a missional church.
